|I love an awesome testimony. As women of God it is so important for us to be able to see another’s walk with God in order to help us develop our |
own walk with Him. One of the biggest struggles a new Christian woman can have is knowing who to walk alongside. I can tell you that my own
potential to become closer to Him can be foggy with my own human sin encounters and one of the biggest things I have learned to do is to walk with the wise women in my immediate circle.
1 Peter 3:15 says:
“But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,”
When I reached out to Cami, I was so excited when she agreed to do this
project with me. Her influence is strong and her faith is beautiful. I hope you enjoy getting to know her like I have.
It’s always so neat to meet Christians in the marketplace and learn their story. How did you become a Christian? “I was raised in a Christian home so I’ve always known about Jesus. I remember following him from a VERY young age. “
When were you baptized and what was that experience like for you? “I was in 5th grade and I knew if you followed Jesus then God tells you to be baptized. Our little church didn’t have a baptismal but finally put one in and I remember having to wait on them to do a baptism service. I was overly anxious to do what God wanted me to do. It was such a relief to me when I finally could do it!”
Tell us about your family. “I grew up in a home with three girls. My parents are about to celebrate 50 years of marriage later this year 🙂 I will be celebrating 20 years of marriage this summer. We have 3 sons, which is a crazy house but SO MUCH FUN.”
What has life as a Christian been like for you? “Generally uneventful in good ways. My testimony is somewhat different from many people I know. I can tell you from experience that following Jesus keeps you out of trouble and really does lead to peace. But it wasn’t until my 30’s that I really grabbed onto my faith with both hands and started really asking God to lead me for His purposes instead of my own. And He’s been crazy faithful in answering those prayers.”
Have you ever been on a mission? If so, where? What was it like? “I went on a few mission trips in high school to places like Colorado, to work with kids. And then early in my married life my husband and I went to
Mexico on a mission. We held church services and provided limited health care. The main thing is that in those types of mission where you see
how much poverty there is in other parts of the world, you personally learn a lesson of gratitude. I hope we brought hope to the people but I ultimately was the most ministered to.”
How do you see Him in your daily life? “I work for a secular company
that somehow has me giving biblical messages to the general public. I don’t for one second take that for granted or think that I had anything to do with making that happen so I am in an interesting place of being forced
to rely on God to sustain me, my messages and my job. I ask for guidance and wisdom constantly throughout the day.”
What is your prayer life like? “Constant. Without communion with God I know I will fall flat on my face in my “ministry.”
How do you start your day? “Most days I try to read at least one verse to set the tone of my thoughts before I get out of bed. Then I have a marathon of getting 3 kids ready and to school before my focus comes back to my own day. Then as I get ready, I turn on the Daily Audio Bible App that reads through selections of Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs to get through the Bible in a year. It completely sets my thoughts for my work day.”
What is your favorite thing about your business? “That it marries my passions of tv/film/speaking with Jesus. It’s a dream.”
If you could travel to any place in the world where would that be? “I’ve been able to go to a lot of places and my favorite views are in Santorini Greece so that’s back at the top of my list of where I want to go. On that same trip I got to go to Mars Hill which just felt like I was standing on Holy ground listening to the sermon from the Bible that was preached there!”
Do you find it difficult to follow through sometimes when the Lord prompts you in public? “I used to. But He has risen up a “Holy Boldness” in me and as my job is now to talk about God in public it’s pretty freeing. People already know where I stand so that part of the fear is *mostly* not an issue.”
What is the best piece of advice you can give to a new Christian woman or girl? “To pray for wisdom and boldness, and to have them together. And keep eternity in your heart at all times so you don’t get caught up in the things that don’t matter in the end.”
What is your favorite story in the Bible? “Queen Esther. She was brave and stepped into her purpose.”
Where can people find you? “If you want to see any of my tv segments, you can google Ozarks First Cami Jenkins. Or go to Ozarks First and choose “Ozarks Fox AM” from the menu and then I am found on both the link “Be Blessed” and the link “Cami Jenkins.” And for inquiries to have me speak at an event or church, you can email me.“
What is something you want others to know? “God puts dreams in our hearts but sometimes waits until we lay down our plan for those dreams. When we sacrifice our own agenda for those dreams then He can actually use them for his glory and it is SO fulfilling!!!”
